RELATIONSHIP DNA TESTING

OTHER TESTING OPTIONS

Motherless Paternity Test

Price: CAD$ 249.00

Persons Tested: Alleged Father and Child
Results Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

This is our most requested test and can be used to confirm the biological relationship between the alleged father and a child, without the need to test the mother. The test is performed through the self-sampling kit sent to the applicant and is not court admissible. This DNA paternity test is 100% conclusive for an exclusion of the alleged father and greater than 99.9% for inclusion.

Standard Paternity Test

Price: CAD$ 299.00

Persons Tested: Alleged Father, Mother and Child
Results Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

The inclusion of the mother’s sample provides a higher degree of accuracy in the paternity test and will confirm with certainty if there is a biological relationship between the alleged father and child. The test is performed through the self-sampling kit sent to the applicant and is not court admissable. This DNA paternity test is 100% conclusive for an exclusion of the alleged father and greater than 99.99% for inclusion.

Court Admissible Paternity Test

CAD$ 595.00 (Collection charges by medical professional not included)

Persons Tested: Alleged Father, Mother and Child
Results Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory for results. Another 5-7 days for notarized documentation.

For a Paternity Test to be court admissible the sample collection needs to follow a strict chain of custody procedure. The samples need to be collected by a qualified medical professional who will be responsible for authenticating the samples and sending them directly to the laboratory. If this procedure is followed correctly the result should be admissable in a court of law. The accuracy of the test does not change and is 100% conclusive for an exclusion of the alleged father and greater than 99.99% for inclusion.

Siblingship Analysis (brother/sister)

CAD$ 495.00

Persons Tested: Alleged Siblings
Results Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

DNA Siblingship analysis can be used to determine whether two alleged siblings are biologically related or not, specifically when the sample of the parent (s) is not available. The test can be used to determine if siblings are either full or half siblings or not related at all. The inclusion of one common parent will greatly increase the accuracy of the final result and is strongly recommended where possible.

This type of test is recommended where the alleged siblings are not of the same sex. If siblings are of female please see X Chromosome Testing. If siblings are male, please see Y Chromosome Testing.

Grandparentage Testing

CAD$ 495.00

Persons Tested: One or both Grandparents of alleged father, Child and Mother if available.
Results Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

This is normally used to determine the biological link between a child and the relatives from the paternal side when the DNA of the alleged father is unavailable.

It is important to understand that unlike the genetic relationship between a parent and a child in which a child inherits 50% of his or her genes from each parent, grandchildren and their grandparents only share around 25% of their genes.

Aunt/Uncle Testing

CAD$ 495.00

Persons Tested: Paternal Aunt/Uncle, Child and Mother if available.
Results Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

This is normally used to determine the biological link between a child and the relatives from the paternal side when the DNA of the alleged father is unavailable.

It is important to understand that unlike the direct relationship between a parent and a child in which the child inherits half their genes from each parents, an aunt or uncle will only share around 25% of their genes with their niece or nephew.

Twin Zygosity DNA Test

CAD$ 495.00

Persons Tested: Twins
Result Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

The test will establish if twins are identical or fraternal. The test is performed through the self-sampling kit sent to the applicant and is not court admissible. The test can also be performed as part of DNA paternity test.

Y Lineage Test

CAD$ 569.00

Persons Tested: Two males
Result Delivery: 5-7 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory
Link to Order: Click here

Y-STR Male Lineage DNA test is used to determine if two males share the same paternal lineage. The Y chromosome is inherited and passed on from father to son through the generations. Since it has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, it will therefore remain the same through many generations.

The test will analyze the Y chromosome of each male submitted for testing, and will generate a unique Y-STR profile for each person. The results are then compared, and if the profiles are the same then the males will be from the same lineage.

X-Chromosome Test

CAD$ 599.00

Persons Tested: Two females
Result Delivery: 14 -21 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

X chromosome testing is used in cases where two females believe they share the same father. Each female has two X chromosomes, one inherited from the mother and the other inherited from the father. This test can help determine whether two sisters have inherited one of their X chromosomes from the same biological father thus, making then at least half sisters.

mtDNA Test

CAD$ 599.00

Persons Tested: Two persons
Result Delivery: 19-21 working days from receipt of samples at the laboratory

This test can be used to determine whether two or more people share a common maternal ancestor; for example, siblings who want to know if they share the same mother may establish this with an MtDNA test. This test is based on the Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation that is passed from females to their offspring; males do not pass their MtDNA to their children. Mitochondrial DNA has a very low mutation rate and thus, remains unchanged from one generation to the next. This infrequent mutation rate makes this test very conclusive.
